THE REALITY OF JESUS' "LOVE AND THE POWER OF HIS PRAYER FOR THE FAMILY"
July 2005

Why is the human family the greatest institution in the world?

Ephesians 6:1-4 gives us an ideal of how families should interact; with parents nurturing and disciplining their children in the love of Jesus and children being respectful towards their parents.

For sometime, this seems so far removed from the reality of the family life in today's society. The enemy is attacking the very fabric of our human family by creating division and discord within our homes. Paul warns us to put on the whole armour of God that we may withstand the attacks of the enemy; and to pray always.

We read the testimony of David in Psalm 101:2, "How I need your help, especially in my own home, where I long to act as I should." Your family and home is Satan's target so you need to strengthen and protect it. It's not the weeds that spring up overnight; it's the ones that grow silently that you and I need to worry about.

Weeds like:
  • Television, television, television
  • Spending too much time at work
  • Giving yourself more to others than to your loved ones
  • Not taking time to talk and listen from your heart
  • Complaining about what you don't like, rather than focusing on what you do
  • Forgetting the qualities that drew you together, and trying to change one another
  • Thinking a different person is the answer
  • Letting little things become big things
  • Forgetting that the best way to get the love and support you need is by giving it to others
  • Expecting from your family and partner what can only be found in God
A good family is built on Commitment, Communication and Prayer
